A Big Upset
The opening kickoff had arrived and the Indians recieved the ball first. The Indians made a return for 25 after being tackled immediately. Gentry's defense performed well which made the Indians go into a punting situation. It was nearly halftime before the Indians went into the endzone to score the first touchown. The Rams went into the locker room happy with a score of 7-0. The coaches gave hard speeches and instructions and sent the players back on the field. The Indians scored again at the begining of the second half by a 75 yard touchdown pass. The completion was made by one of the Dandy's Dozen for the Indians. The Rams finally scored before the fourth quarter. The score was now 14-7. The remaining of the game was like taking candy from a baby. The Indian's defense stepped up and force the rams to punt every drive. The Indians offense took advantage of the game and scored two more time before the final buzzer went off. The ending score of the game was 28-7
Game 5
The Rams now owned a tied record of 2-2 after under estimating and being defeated by the Calloway chargers. Practices were held late everyday to make sure they don't make the same mistake once again. The next game was against the Yazoo City Indians. They owned a perfect record of 4-0. The Rams claimed that they will make the Indians recieve their first upset. The Rams was on the road again for the second time in a row. The Indians had two star players that were Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozens.
Almost Isn't Good Enough
The Chargers went into the enzone one again and failed the point after before the ending of the third quarter. Gentry held the lead going into fourth quarter with a score of 21-20. The fourth quarter was strictly a defensive game. Each team did not get a chance to make it in the red zone. The time was running out with 10 seconds left on the clock. The Chargers decided to go for a 45 yard field goal. The kick shocked many fans as it went through the field goal. Calloway got very excited after seeing the score was 21-23. The scoreboard had 5 seconds left on the clock and the Rams only could ask for successful kick return. Calloway kicked the ball far to Gary Lewis. Lewis caught the ball and ran from sideline to sideline missing tackles. The buzzer went off and Lewis was still on his feet, which caught everyone's attention. Lewis was on the chase while trying to score. Lewis tripped and fell shortly at the third yard line because of a pot hole in the field. The Chargers got their first victory
Coaches
Many coaches of the Rams were highly disappointed at their player's performances. Coaches were arguing that the players under estimated the opponents. Head Coach Phil Short started embarassing players one by one of how bad they played. The offensive and defensive players were broken up into two groups to go over new instructions. The Rams returned to the field after halftime very angry. The Charger recieved the kick off and a fumble was made while trying to return it. The Rams picked up at the ball at the 25 yard and scored off a quarter back sneak.
Competition
The Rams arrived late, which made them change on the bus. The Rams had ten minutes to prepare for the game. They ran over some quick stretches and agilities before the Star Spangled Banner was played. The Rams won the coin toss and chose to recieve the ball first. Gary Lewis caught the opening kickoff and return it for 45 yards. The opening drive for the rams went smooth until a fumble was made. The Chargers decided to throw on their first play. It was a sucessful catch for 30 yards. The chargers then decided to run a option which helped them score first. The Chargers held the lead going into to halftime with a score of 14 to 13.
Game 4
After defeating the Cowboys the Ram's record is now 2-1. The Rams were excited cause their next team on the schedule was winless. The next team was the Calloway chargers. They owned a defeated record of 0-3. The Rams practiced all week long, but not hard enough as if friday's game was a guaranteed win. Friday evening, after school, the Rams had to travel to Jackson Ms. While traveling to Calloway High School, one of gentry's buses had a blow-out. which made the Rams behind schedule.
The Second Win
The games was, basically, in the hands of the rams the whole night. The Rams scored again before going into halftime. The Cowboys reached a touchdown twice in the third quarter, but failed the point after. The rams night wasn't finished until they put up two more scores easily. At this time the rams realized that the victory was their's. The end of the fourth quarter arrived and the score board read 27 to 12.
Gentry Strikes First
The Rams kick the ball off first and immediately stopped the reciever in his tracks. That tackle set the tone and built the rams momentum. The rams defense forced the cowboys to not get more than 5 yards on their opening drive, which sought up a punt situation. The cowboys punted the ball and was caught by gentry's star player Gary Lewis. Lewis also made a good performance by retuning the ball to humphrey county's 35 yard line. The offense ran on the field ready to take action. The opening play for the rams was a 15 yard pass to reciever Eddie Ivory. The rams later saw the endzone after two more plays, which made the score 7 to 0.
Game 3
The Gentry rams are now 1-1 after being victorious to Ruleville Central Tigers. The rams are now awaiting for their next game of the season aginst Humphrey County. The Rams was beaten by Cowboys last season by three points late in the fourth quarter. For severals years the Rams and the Cowboys takes turn winning.Friday night arrives and fans began to fill the bleachers on both sides of the Gentry High School field. The Ram's specials teams are on the feild screeching and doing agilities. Three buses arrives on the campus filled with athletes and band members. The band marched to the bleachers playing all songs as if they were giving a pregame show while the football players went inside the locker room to change into their uniforms.Inside the Ram's locker room coaches are going over all instructions and assignments. After praying the Rams began a chant while walking to field to line up by their goal post. The star spangled banner was sung by Carlissa Simpson. After the singing, the bands began to battle to hype up their teams. Three captains were chosen by both teams to walk to the middle of the field to get the coin toss. Humphrey County won the toss and chose to recieve the ball first.
Victory
The Rams struck back with a touchdown pass to wide out Eddie Ivory and the point after also completed. The scores entering the fourth quarter was tied at 7 to 7. Five minutes passed on the clock and the Rams saw the endzone once again with a quarter back keeper. The Rams attemted the two conversion and scored again with a bootleg special. The score was now 15 to 7 and three minutes left on the clock. Luckly, the Tigers forced their way into the endzone just before the time ran out. The Tigers tried an old counter play with a unbalanced offensive line. Fortunately, sophmore line backer Kennon Cattlidge wasn't fooled by the trick play and attacked the running back, stopping him at the one yard line. The end or the fourth quarter arrived and the score board read 15 to 13.
Robert Cassidy
As Gentry kicked the ball off, their reciever caught the ball and return it to the 35 yard line. An injury was made, there was a player laying on the field, Robert Cassidy couldn't move and, unfortunately, the paramedics realise that the young man has been paralysed from the waist down. Even though, that was a hurful event, the Tigers decided to let the game carry on. The Tigers went on the score board first, with a 29 yard touchdown run by their star running back. The PAT was sucessfull.
